Most people overcomplicate growth.
They spend hours tweaking websites, designing logos, or debating niches.
Meanwhile, the fastest way to grow an audience is right here inside Substack.
Here’s what I’ve learned building Run The Money on Substack
1. Notes are underrated
Most growth comes from visibility in the Notes feed. Aim for consistency (3–5 per day), not perfection. Short, punchy, and frequent beats “polished and rare.”
2. Restacks > Algorithms
There’s no recommendation algorithm here—it’s people. Restacks are word-of-mouth at scale. Write things people are proud to reshare.
3. Sections help you niche down
Instead of one giant newsletter, Sections let you segment. That means readers can get exactly what they want, and you don’t burn them out.
4. Borrow Other People’s Audiences (BOPA)
Partnering with other Substack writers accelerates growth. Guest posts, mentions, or simple comment engagement in bigger newsletters puts you in front of the right people.
5. Don’t leave money on the table
Even early on, brands will pay for access. Sponsorships + affiliate links can offset costs and prove your newsletter is a real business asset.
I’ll keep documenting the playbook as I test it. If you’re trying to grow on Substack too, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
